Re: Abuse by leaders focused on protecting their ministries

A similar vision of the church leadership was seen by a friend attending Immanuel not long after the happenings in 1988-9. He saw the elders in the front row linked together in large chains in darkness. And he left the next week.

Re: WEEKLY QUIZ

I'll have a couple of guesses - one in the political realm - North Korea? Or perhaps Communist China? and the xCF led by Chairman Vic.
And the second in the cult realm which could be any one of JW's, LDS, Moonies ... the list goes on but the xCF is like any of them.

New DV laws in Scotland - why not the cults as well?

This item was in The Edinburgh News and outlines new laws regarding Domestic Violence coming into effect in Scotland in 2019. I’m wondering how they could be introduced in Australia to cover spiritual abuse within cults. Almost every item mentioned happens in the RFA / xCF cult under the guise of th...

Re: What do YOU think is CORRECT (& not well acknowledged by others) in the MCF/BCF teachings/culture?

I'll have a go at your end times question, Paul. It is a bit scarey that I can still draw Offiler's chart from memory and have a working knowledge of the Latter Rain teaching even after all this time! However it is all filed away under interesting end times theories with a bunch of others that have ...

Re: What do YOU think is CORRECT (& not well acknowledged by others) in the MCF/BCF teachings/culture?

Well, Faith - you asked what is being preached today at BCF? I found a website with a list of short 5 minute devotionals on video and here's one:
A summary of the first 3 cuts of Christ's circumcision - by Peter Hay.

Words fail me!

Re: What do YOU think is CORRECT (& not well acknowledged by others) in the MCF/BCF teachings/culture?

I like your dividing of culture and teaching, Faith. Good point! Every group has a sub-culture - whether it is a workplace, church, music group ... Or cult. When you leave and join a new one there's a whole new bunch of acronyms to get your head around and a fascinating period of observation while y...

Re: What do YOU think is CORRECT (& not well acknowledged by others) in the MCF/BCF teachings/culture?

Hi Paul You have raised an interesting question or two. What did MCF / BCF get right? I'm going to just make some general comments here and maybe some more specific ones in later posts. If you go back to the beginnings of what was called The Move we need to consider it was being run by a bloke who w...

Re: How unique is BCF/MCF's brand of cultishness (especially the last 25 Vic Hall years)?

Hi Faith Is it mean to say I'm glad I'm not the only one who had that experience of people picking up their jaws from the floor when you tell them of our previous lifestyle? Was chatting to some friends about it the other day and we can now have a good laugh about it - as we live our lives now doing...

RIP Hersch Garfinkel

Some of the older ex Immanuel / MCF people may remember Hersch who attended Immanel in the 70s and 80s. Hersch passed away last week and his funeral is next Wednesday. This is from his son Caleb's facebook page: Hersch Mendel Garfinkel's funeral will be held at 1:30pm Wednesday 22nd August, 2 Tower ...

Hi Bagel yes he really did! I can't remember what we did instead but someone must have pulled something out of a hat and we carried on rewardless as one does ... Rallying to the cause and the show must go on, old chap and all that. Strange times. But no, I can't remember the drummer - at least not t...
