An absurd Sunday School song

I'm not sure if this belongs in this section but you can learn a lot about a group's teaching by listening to the songs they sing so for some light relief I'd thought share a Sunday school offering song sung in the 70s at BCF. A friend and I were wandering down memory lane with regard to the songs we'd sung and this one jumped into my head. In case the first line doesn't make sense - the offering was collected in a large money box pig. Make of the rest of it what you will!

We'll pass the pig around the room and drop all our pennies in
And send them all to Jesus who'll wash away our sin
We'll bring our pennies week by week till piggy gets quite fat
And in many ways we will get them back, you can be sure of that!

"And send them all to Jesus who'll wash away our sin", good pre Reformation stuff, buy your way to heaven, next step Indulgences for less time in Purgatory.

Thanks for sharing Wendy, the lyrics do give an insight into the thinking and doctrine of BCF. It certainly is a strange set of lyrics and perhaps not entirely scripturally sound! And to Ceorl - a case could be made that some are already living in a form of ongoing daily purgatory having to submit lashings, condemnation and bondage of Vic Hall and his lackeys!
