Coercive Control is a Crime in QLD from 2025

Post by guest »

Queensland will criminalise coercive control by 2025, with penalties of up to 14 years in prison. While the laws focus on personal relationships, similar tactics of fear, isolation, and manipulation are common in religious groups.

What is tolerated under the guise of religious freedom may soon fall under these laws. As coercive control becomes a crime, religious groups using these methods could face the same legal consequences.

Guest, I don't fancy your chances of getting the tithes back. The tithes would have already been spent on Elders fishing retreats in Vic's motor boat and fine communion wine. Oh and don't forget double tithes and firstfruits tithes!

A number of years ago some guys in Maryborough had to sue the Wide Bay Christian Fellowship to get their loans repaid to them when they left. Made the newspapers and local media.
