Police Reports Filed in Queensland - A message from the Police

Post by Samson Rising »

Good afternoon,

I would like to announce that on 24 December 2024 I attended the Brisbane City Police Station with one of Samson Rising’s legal team.

The purpose of our visit was to report the details of potential crimes reported to us by current and former members of the CFO.

We currently have 41 women who answered yes to the survey questions regarding:
‘Have you felt coerced by your husband or the CFO in relation to how you live your life including what you wear, how you spend your money, what you are allowed to do and with whom you are allowed to associate.’

(If anyone would like to know more about the coercive control laws, please email us on samsonrising24@gmail.com.)

We also have 136 surveys reporting criminal misconduct, physical abuse, or sexual abuse within the CFO.

Samson Legal has confirmed my obligation to make the Police aware of these allegations and I have complied with those obligations.

The Police wish us to reassure victims that the details of their identities are held completely confidentially by the Police and cannot be used without the individual permission of each victim.

The nature of the matters reported to Police include:
• three counts of kidnapping and deprivation of liberty,
• numerous reports of sexual abuse including abuse involving children,
• almost universal reports of psychological abuse of young adults and others alike.
• financial coercion and fraud, and
• coercive control

I am extremely grateful to the Queensland police for their professional and wholehearted reception of our reports.

I had briefed the Police the day before my meeting and directed them to the website for their reference. On the 24th I met with two Plain Clothes Police Officers from the Criminal Investigations Branch, who had already alerted other Branches of the Police Service.

During the meeting, one of the officers in attendance, was receiving emails from other Branches of the Queensland Police saying they were sorry they could not get to the meeting but assured us of the enthusiastic allocation of resources necessary to conduct investigations immediately.
These other Branches included the Vulnerable Persons Unit and the Sex Crimes Unit.

When the Samson Rising website launched on 1 December 2024, we could not have anticipated the number of reports of alleged crimes that we would receive. It was a shock, and on a personal level, many of these reports brought us to tears.

Recognising the names of people we used to fellowship with, brought it all home, and was overwhelming at times. I would like to thank the brave victims that have come forward and the Samson Rising Team for their resilience.

At the end of the meeting of 24 December, the Police asked me to delay making an announcement on Streetcar or the website, while they coordinated their response.

The Police were very concerned about the number and nature of the reports, and I cannot overemphasise how keen they are to investigate. But of course, to investigate a crime requires the actual victim to come forward.

They cannot start an investigation based on the evidence we gave them. I have included a link to the Police response I received yesterday.

https://samsonrising.com.au/police-statement/

The police are very pleased to be working with Samson Rising to broadcast messages from Police to assist anyone who is concerned about breaches of the law and to underscore their willingness to participate they said to me privately “It’s fantastic what you are doing, and we hope it brings some good results.”

My feel for it is that if the Queensland Police had a victim’s complaint in hand, they would have Police cars on Burton Lane the same day.
I can literally say, we now have a direct line to the Police. They will respond when we phone them.

Before I move onto other matters, I would like to highlight that it only took 24 days from the launch of the website to have an authority ready to investigate. The effort the Samson Rising Team has put in during this phase, is nothing short of enormous. We recognise this represents an opportunity of a lifetime to bring accountability to an organisation which has received so much criticism via our website.

For those of you who have reported crimes, it is not for us to pressure you to come forward to Police. All we can do is create this opportunity and make it as easy for you as possible. If you’d like someone from Samson Rising to help you make a report or come with you to a Police station, you only need to ask by emailing us on samsonrising24@gmail.com. This is also true for all States in Australia, not just Queensland. We can find a former member of the CFO you know and trust to help you.

Everyone at Samson Rising is a former CFO member and I can guarantee you, you will recognise us immediately if you choose to get in touch.

I spoke with two more women this week about their complaints of historical sexual assaults by a senior leader of the CFO. Both women were pleased to simply get to know me and the Samson Rising team and to be left to make up their minds whether to make a report.

Of course, not all of you have criminal matters to report. We have three other authorities with whom we plan to file reports. As mentioned in my first post on Streetcar, we are scheduling these other reports between now and 31 March 2025.

We will be seeking your participation in those reports and providing template forms to make it easy for you. These will be available for download on the Samson Rising website and Streetcar. We are working with solicitors to draft these forms and to handle the volume we anticipate.

Finally, I’d like to let you know about other progress we’ve made since the site launched.

1. We have arranged for one of the incredibly brave women who reported suffering horrible psychological abuse by the CFO, to attend a free meeting with a law firm specialising in pure psychological abuse cases.
If the firm accepts this person’s case, it will be on a no win, no fee basis, which means the door may be open to hundreds of others who feel they have been psychologically abused.

We will keep you informed of the outcome.

2. We have also confirmed that breaches of privacy can and do give rise to financial compensation to the victims in addition to financial penalties and apologies from perpetrators.

We will explain the details behind this kind of claim in another post. But my sense is that claims for breaches of privacy are going to be of significant interest to most of you. This is because the investigation is done for you at no cost, and does not involve the kind of intimidating cross examination we all fear.

In many cases a victim’s participation begins and ends with a written complaint.

3. We have commenced compiling our evidence for our reports to the ACNC and the Office of Fair Trading and we will update you as they develop.

I can tell you that the endless hours of work by the SR team, have been rewarded with the support of the Streetcar community and many others.
Indeed, we have come a long way since 1 December 2024.

On behalf of the Samson Rising team.

So the testimonies uploaded to Samson Rising are important, and Samson can and will advise us.

BUT . . the practical next step is contacting the police, preferably (but not necessarily) via that hotline number or police link in that page link. Right?

Unless that happens, Samson can only use the testimonies as evidence of lack of appropriateness of xCF’s activities to the public interest in presentations to the ACNC or civil actions.

How horrific. An organization rotten to the core. So practicalities are people still need to come forward face to police either statements or all the investigations ends? Is that correct? I hope this is not the case. Why can’t someone just go to the media and publicly expose the horrific situations? Kidnapping?? OMG surely the public need to be made aware of this these places.

Hi Paul & Stargazer,

Thank you for your questions.

Yes, it's true that anyone can use the QI2402227912 reference number the Police gave as to report crimes. They can also provide background information about the CFO using this refence number. The Police are doing the same thing as Samson Rising - piecing together fragments of information to build up an accurate picture of what's going on and then acting on that.

It's important to remember there's several different ways we are investigating the CFO, and several authorities we will be reporting to. I believe we will be successful in reaching our aims by making these reports.

Patience is required at this time. Patience to allow victims of alleged crime the time they need to become informed about their options and to make their own decision.

We need to give them the utmost support and consideration.

To answer your question Stargazer, yes at this stage the Police can only investigate a crime that’s reported to them by the victim. I know we hear about proactive investigations by Police into organised crime etc. I can ask about that when I’m next speaking with the Police. And I’ll let you know.

Regarding the media, Samson Rising’s position is as follows:

The media can be a very powerful tool, and we have very specific plans in place to harness that power. Indeed, the media has already made enquiries of individuals about their stories. These people have kindly agreed to coordinate the release of their story with a strategic Samson Rising media release. This should give us the biggest impact.

It is obvious the CFO story is going to explode soon. We all know that.

But coordinating our stories and providing exclusive access to them will greatly improve our reach and boost the resources Samson Rising has to continue to raise the attention of the authorities.

It is also important to realize that if the media is not managed well, it can backfire. If we can achieve our aims without the media’s involvement, we would prefer to do that, rather than risk a poorly handled media interaction.

Both Samson Legal and I are primed and ready to make media announcements if the media does approach us.

We are asking for the support of the Streetcar community and others to coordinate with us in this way.

Please keep the questions coming because readers will learn from this question and answer process.

On behalf of the Team

Samson

Hi Samson,

I’ve been wanting to share the Samson Rising link with family still attending xCF, but I’m a bit paranoid that if it’s spread too widely amongst the congregation that the quiz will be hijacked and incorrect answers and lies may drown out the true accounts of survivors. Do you have any advice on this?

No words to describe how grateful I am for your initiative. Too many of us have suffered for too long and it’s well and truly time this evil organisation paid for their crimes.

I felt bad for a long time in not being able to shake the Nicolation deal vicspeak drilled into my (our) head(s). I would only bring my thoughts on the whole false religion when asked.

Glad to say I was asked recently, so I did share my concerns, the Samson Rising site and Streetcar with a (now former!) cf member. He had been feeling the dire effects of vicspeak word of death and cutting people off. He left the day after getting this information. Best news is another joined him in exiting the church. They are LOVING their new church and were so very happy and grateful to find the joy of Christ.

Part of me wishes there was a way we could reconnect former xcfers together (non-anonomously, like here on SC). I wonder how many people I knew have left in recent times. Hopefully one day my old friends feel they can reach out to me if ever they start questioning things themselves.

Hi Ripley,

Thanks for your thoughtfulness regarding keeping the survey results safe.

It's fairly obvious when someone submits a grossly distorted survey.

If we're swamped with them, we can deal with it in a number of ways.

We also know that there are CFO members that wouldn't have experienced any of the trauma that's become associated with the CFO. They have never disobeyed Elders. They pay their tithes and don't rock the boat. These people may fill out a survey that's favourable to the CFO.

Even if there are some people that have no problems with the CFO, the important thing is the existence of so many people who have.

The existence of 136 surveys reporting alleged crimes can never be drowned out.

Here’s an example of one person we believe has made a deliberate attempt to distort the survey results. We got this entry two nights ago.

https://samsonrising.com.au/wp-content/ ... 012024.pdf

The person answered “Yes’ to:
Do you believe the Church teachings include distancing individuals who did not follow the directions of the Church leaders?

And ‘Yes’ to:
Are you aware of anyone who was distanced from their friends or family because they left the Church or did not follow the leaders’ directions?

They also answered, “No’ to:
Would you like to see an independent inquiry into the sexual, physical, and psychological abuse of children?

If you look at their other answers, you can see the person thought about their answers.

They then said “No’ to any outcome like Apologies, Resignations, Compensation or Windup of the CFO.

In summary this person acknowledges the CFO’s has a policy of ostracization and they do not want anything done about it.

The rest of their answers are almost entirely ‘No’ answers, even when it’s obvious the answer should have been ‘N/A’. eg. They say they were not a voting member of the CFO, but then answered questions which are only applicable to voting members. These answers do distort the survey results a little.

They also refuse to identify which outreach they belonged to and avoided identifying the role of any leaders.

We have the IP address of this person, because the IP address gets given to our system by the computer of each person completing a survey. The IP address can be used to locate the physical device that submitted the survey.

If investigations by Police lead to criminal charges, the deliberate interference with the integrity of the survey results, may be evidence of someone trying to pervert the course of justice.

The Police will not have to twist our arms to give them the IP addresses of such people if they request them.

On behalf of the Team.

My heart goes out to the victims.

I’m so sorry for what you’ve suffered. I wish I could comfort you more than just offering these words.

For decades we’ve all heard stories of terrible things happening. Proof has always seemed elusive, but I guess that’s because it suits some people to cover things up.

I for one would be happy to go with a victim to help them report their matter to Police.

But for now, I recognise that creating a safe compassionate space for victims is what’s required in the immediate term.

I am available if anyone wants to private message me just to feel heard and supported.

God Bless

Samson Rising
As I’m reading the latest report I’m in tears.

I knew the elders were wicked but I had no idea of the extent and the degree of harm they would justify ‘in the name of the Lord! ‘

All I can do now is weep.
