Hearts Full of Compassion

Post by Helen Pomery »

Dear and Gracious Heavenly Father,

We come before You with hearts full of compassion, seeking to uplift our loved ones in prayer.

We thank You for the gift of empathy that allows us to feel deeply for all who are suffering due to this evil.

Lord Jesus, we ask for Your divine intervention in the lives of our family and friends.

Please deliver them from evil, from their struggles and challenges, and restore them to us.

Grant them strength in times of weakness, hope in moments of despair, and truth in the midst of trials.

Surround them with Your love and protection, guiding them on their paths. We pray earnestly as Jesus taught us.

Help us to be instruments of Your peace and compassion, always ready to speak up and support those in need.

May our words reflect Your love, bringing comfort and encouragement to all we encounter here on this forum.

We trust in Your unfailing grace and mercy, knowing that You hear our prayers.

In the name of Jesus Christ, we pray,
Amen.

God of the Poor (Beauty for Brokenness)

Graham Kendrick

Beauty for brokenness
Hope for despair
Lord, in the suffering
This is our prayer
Bread for the children
Justice, joy, peace
Sunrise to sunset
Your kingdom increase!

Shelter for fragile lives
Cures for their ills
Work for the craftsman
Trade for their skills
Land for the dispossessed
Rights for the weak
Voices to plead the cause
Of those who can't speak

God of the poor
Friend of the weak
Give us compassion we pray
Melt our cold hearts
Let tears fall like rain
Come, change our love
From a spark to a flame

Refuge from cruel wars
Havens from fear
Cities for sanctuary
Freedoms to share
Peace to the killing-fields
Scorched earth to green
Christ for the bitterness
His cross for the pain

God of the poor
Friend of the weak
Give us compassion we pray
Melt our cold hearts
Let tears fall like rain
Come, change our love
From a spark to a flame

Rest for the ravaged earth
Oceans and streams
Plundered and poisoned
Our future, our dreams
Lord, end our madness
Carelessness, greed
Make us content with
The things that we need

God of the poor
Friend of the weak
Give us compassion we pray
Melt our cold hearts
Let tears fall like rain
Come, change our love
From a spark to a flame

Lighten our darkness
Breathe on this flame
Until your justice
Burns brightly again
Until the nations
Learn of your ways
Seek your salvation
And bring you their praise

God of the poor
Friend of the weak
Give us compassion we pray
Melt our cold hearts
Let tears fall like rain
Come, change our love
From a spark to a flame

God of the poor
Friend of the weak
Give us compassion we pray
Melt our cold hearts
Let tears fall like rain
Come, change our love
From a spark to a flame

I was so blessed by this song this morning. I thought to share it here on Streetcar. I hope some will listen to it and pray it as a prayer.

Thank you Helen for sharing this. I hope and pray those in the XCF organisation can see the truth of their situation and that the leaders will repent while they still have the chance to. The injustices being faced by the everyday church members breaks my heart - they all deserve to experience peace and to be treated fairly.

I have been thinking about this song today it's from the same artist as the original song Helen posted.
"How long lord? "is a cry that has been sung through the ages.
How long Lord.

How Long (As we bring our songs of love today)

As we bring our songs of love today
Do you hear a sound more glorious?
Like the mighty roar of ocean waves
Many witnesses surround us
It’s a harmony of costly praise
From the lips of those who suffer
Of sighs and tears and martyrs’ prayers
Until this age is over.

How long, Lord, till you come?
How long till the earth
Is filled with your song?
How long until your justice
Shines like the sun?
How long, Lord, till you come?
How long till the earth
Is filled with your song?
How long, how long?

Lord, help us to live worthy of
Our sisters and our brothers
Who love you more than their own lives
Who worship as they suffer
To embrace the scandal of the cross
Not ashamed to tell your story
To count all earthly gain as loss
To know you and your glory

How long, Lord, till you come?
How long till the earth
Is filled with your song?
How long until your justice
Shines like the sun?
How long, Lord till you come?
How long till the whole world hears
And the work is done
Until at last we see you return?
How long, Lord till you come
How long till the earth
Is filled with your song?
How long, how long?
How long, how long?
How long, how long?

God is advancing His purpose -
And nothing
And no one
Can ultimately stand against His Desire
To Glorify His King
And
Bless His people.

I read this in Alistair Begg’s devotional entitled, ‘Nothing Thwarts God’. Jan 31, 2025

WE CAN PRAY BOLDLY and LIVE BRAVELY because
GOD STANDS SOVEREIGN.

Sometimes I get overwhelmed with the darkness of the abuse and victimisation happening within BCF.

Today, I didn’t feel overwhelmed.
